TV wall niche requirements
A TV niche creates a controlled frame for the television, soundbar and optional display shelves. The visible opening should fit the selected screen while leaving enough clearance for installation, ventilation and future removal.
Provide the exact television model, overall dimensions, mounting pattern and cable connection locations. Confirm whether the TV will mount to the niche back panel, an independent wall structure or an adjustable bracket. The niche should not be expected to carry equipment loads unless the structural support is designed and documented for that purpose.
Bathroom niche requirements
A bathroom wall niche stores toiletries, towels or decorative items without projecting into the room. Shower niches face direct water and need a coordinated waterproofing detail. Vanity and toilet-area niches may have lower exposure but still require easy-clean surfaces and sealed junctions.
Provide the finished opening size, wall depth, tile or panel thickness, shelf positions and flange direction. The installer must integrate the niche with the approved wall membrane and local wet-area construction requirements.
Compare depth and internal clearances
TV niche depth is driven by the screen, bracket, cable bend radius, power outlet and ventilation route. Side shelves may require separate depths for books, speakers or decorative objects. Access to the power supply and data connections should remain possible after installation.
Bathroom niche depth is usually limited by the wall cavity and the products being stored. Shampoo bottles need usable shelf depth and height. A towel niche may need a deeper body, while a compact vanity niche can remain shallow.
Ventilation, power and LED lighting
Electronic equipment generates heat. A TV wall niche should provide the clearances and ventilation recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Cable routes, outlets, drivers and service panels must be resolved before the niche is closed into the wall.
Integrated LED lighting can be added to either niche type. TV niches often use warm ambient light around the screen or inside display shelves. Bathroom niches can use a concealed top or side LED strip. Bathroom electrical components must suit the wet location and comply with destination-market requirements.
Waterproofing and drainage
Waterproofing is the key difference between the two systems. A shower niche is part of the wet-wall assembly and does not replace the waterproof membrane. Flanges, sealants, wall boards and tile edges should follow the project waterproofing specification.
Horizontal surfaces should avoid trapping water. The installation detail may require a slight fall toward the shower, depending on the design and local practice. TV niches normally remain dry, but outdoor entertainment walls need separate weather and drainage engineering.
Material and finish selection
Brushed stainless steel gives both applications a precise architectural edge. PVD colors, matte coatings and custom finishes can coordinate with faucets, cabinet hardware, stone and wall panels. Bathroom finishes must tolerate frequent cleaning and humidity.
Request samples when a niche must match another metal product. Approve the grain direction, gloss, edge profile and color under the project lighting before production.
