316 stainless steel cabinets can be specified for coastal locations, high-humidity sites and projects with more demanding exposure conditions. Final material selection should consider the installation environment, cleaning chemicals, ventilation and proximity to salt air.
Material grade is only one part of cabinet performance. Sheet thickness, internal reinforcement, weld finishing, drainage, ventilation and compatible hardware also need to be defined during engineering.
Cabinet sizes and module planning
Custom cabinet dimensions allow the system to fit the actual room instead of forcing the room to fit standard modules. A cabinet schedule normally identifies the overall width, height and depth of every unit, along with door swings, drawer travel and service clearances.
Base cabinets
Base cabinet height and depth are coordinated with the countertop, toe kick, appliances and local ergonomic requirements. Modules can include doors, drawers, pull-out trays, waste bins, sinks, grills, refrigerators and access panels.
Wall cabinets and tall cabinets

Stainless steel cabinet finishes
Brushed stainless steel is a common choice because its directional grain gives a controlled architectural appearance and is straightforward to maintain. Other project finishes can include bead-blasted stainless, matte powder coating and PVD colors such as champagne, bronze, black or gold.
Finish samples should be reviewed under the actual project lighting. Color, gloss and metal grain can look different under warm residential lighting, cool retail lighting and outdoor daylight.
